Construction Project Engineer/Coordinator

Job Description:

Project Engineer is responsible for recording, maintaining and routing files and related records including but not limited to blueprints, drawings, and project documents to key stakeholders including Consultants, Project Managers, Accounting and other related offices. In addition, the Project Engineer compiles and maintains control records for input and tracking into the Program's project management system, provides management support to prime contractors/subcontractors as well as other duties as assigned.
Examples of Essential Functions

  • Maintains and updates electronic document and financial information systems.
  • Logs and distributes documents and ensures accuracy of all documentation.
  • Plans and documents workflow in coordination with Project Manager.
  • Provides project document reports as needed by Project Manager.
  • Assists in contractor pre-qualification, bid and award process.
  • Analyzes bid information in coordination with Project Manager.
  • Develops working knowledge of prime contract requirements and implements knowledge to project activities.
  • Supports Project Manager in the development and maintenance of preconstruction, construction and closeout execution plans.
  • Participates in safety reviews and/or pre-planning safety meetings, as necessary.
  • Supports Project Manager in the procurement and coordination of all required project resources.
  • Supports Project Manager in the development and maintenance of project schedules, including targeted and actual activities list, durations and sequencing logic and communicates this information to project team.
  • Pursues scheduling information from prime contractors/subcontractors, vendors, and design professional.
  • Supports Project Manager in the monitoring and reporting of project costs.
  • Supports Project Manager in the evaluation of vendor and prime/ subcontractor invoices.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of contractually required quality in design and construction and supports quality assurance for the project.
  • Assists with Punch-List Development.
  • Assists with close out requirement and turn over documents.
  • Verifies accuracy and general conformance in content of all construction-related documents.
  • Maintains day-to-day record of all approved document changes for the Project and Client's digital archives.
  • Oversees and provides security for all project-related documents.
  • Communicates with document originators to ensure completeness of information.
  • Assists in examining documents such as blueprints, drawings, change orders, payment applications, invoices, RFI's, submittals and specifications to verify completeness, general conformance and accuracy of data.
  • Posts changes to computerized or manual control records, releases documents, and notifies affected stakeholders.
  • Prepares requests for reproduction of documents, meeting minutes, project status reports, and monthly program reports and memorandums.
  • Assists in creation of reports to various program and District groups.
  • Updates project and program schedules. Provides 30-day and 90-day look-ahead summaries of the most important project milestones.
  • Maintains the condition of the office and arranges for necessary repairs and supplies.
  • Assists in filing contracts and invoices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, business, architect or engineering from four-year college or university is preferred.
  • 3 years' of related project experience
