Veridiam is a manufacturing partner specializing in exotic metal applications within the medical, nuclear, aerospace and industrial markets. We work with cutting edge space companies manufacturing components and assemblies for spacecraft, launch vehicle and rocket engine applications. Veridiam is expanding our nuclear work with safety related reactor core components and assemblies.

Veridiam is looking for a Lead Machinist to join our Oceanside, CA facility. The Lead Machinist will setup CNC lathes, Mill turn, CNC mills 3 and 5 Axis, and other machining equipment to support a production-paced environment. The position will manage complex set-ups with minimal supervision. Veridiam products are to serve the power generation medical device, space and Aerospace industries. This position routinely monitors key process indicators to ensure the process is in control and quality product is produced, and knows how to operates all equipment in the production floor to support daily production, providing guidance to operators on quality and efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform complex set-ups on CNC lathes, mills (up to 5 axis), mill turns machines and inspection equipment for production jobs in a responsive manner to support a production-paced environment.
  • Must be able to setup independently new jobs and development jobs on
  • (Lathes, Mill turn and 3, 4 and5th axis mills machines) different manual machine types from start to finish, including selection of tools and programming that doesn't require CAD/CAM.
  • Create, maintain, and update setup procedures for all critical processes.
  • Maintain process controls on critical processes through maintenance of tooling and equipment, takes a leadership role in troubleshooting and problem solving with the operators.
  • Routinely monitor processes to ensure process control and variation reduction using statistical tools and interaction with operators.
  • Monitors production performance measurements, adjusts processes to maintain quality and improve on cost.
  • Take the initiative to drive process solutions through feedback and communication with manufacturing and engineering personnel.
  • Write CNC programs, alter more complicated programs as required for process capability, interacting with Programmers and Engineers on process changes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Education: High School Diploma required Experience:
  • Minimum of 20 years' experience on all machine tools
  • Set-up and operation of many machines, minimum of 4- 3axis mills, 5axis mills, Mill/Turns, 2X lathes, Screw machines, grinders, EDM
  • At least 5 years in Aerospace manufacturing environment with ability to read advanced blueprints and understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) Knowledge:
    • Understands advanced G code- Can make major program edits by hand
    • Understands machining of advanced materials such as Nickle Alloys, Titanium, Hardened steels and difficult to machine geometries
    • Understands advanced fixturing, and work coordinate systems inside the CNC machine and can adjust fixtures and tooling to compensate for errors.
    • Understands advanced macro programming and can trouble shoot any CNC program. Abilities:
      • Can apply tool and WCS offsets to a machine to keep the part in tolerance
      • Can train others on various machines and machining techniques
      • Can supervise lower-level employees
      • Can build fixtures and tooling for various machine types.
      • Advanced Computer knowledge
      • Can operate CAM to program aerospace level parts and geometries
      • Ability to interact effectively with customers, peers, management, manufacturing personnel, and both technical and non-technical people.
      • Measure dimensional tolerances using applicable equipment to read precision instruments and see and feel product defects. Ability to read CMM reports and make adequate adjustment/offsets to get product back to nominal.
      • Understand, value and actively drive process optimization and variation reduction.
      • Takes a leadership role in a team atmosphere, possessing flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing priorities and be able to provide and accept constructive criticism.
      • Lift up to 30 pounds and meet physical, mental, ergonomic, environmental and other requirements of the job.
      • Read and interpret traveler instructions, procedures and drawings.
      • Maintain hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate machines, tools and equipment. PI190256096
