Position Summary:

This position is responsible for processing direct order requisitions and selected non-stock orders. Requisitions must be reviewed for all procedurally required approvals prior to purchase order composition and release. The incumbent is responsible to recognize and prioritize the requirements of requisitions received and to commit purchase orders within the authority to ensure availability of equipment, supplies and services according to the requirements of the organization, and in accordance with appropriate procedures. May work in Supply Chain, Pharmacy, Lab or other department.

Major Position Responsibilities:

The position characteristics reflect the most important duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in a fully competent manner. * Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
* Process direct order requisitions or non-stock orders to provide for the timely availability of equipment, supplies, items, medication, repairs, and non-personnel services on a routine and emergency basis.
* Purchase the selected items, repair of selected equipment, and completion of selected non-personnel services through the accurate and complete recording of data in system.
* Expedite purchase orders and resolve discrepancies.
* Be responsive to special care and short lead-time requirements to ensure the timely completion and availability of materials and services.
* Perform other duties, as assigned. Duties may be unique or specific to assigned department.

Qualifications:

* Minimum of Five (5) years buyer experience, required, with a preference in healthcare, pharmacy, or lab procurement.
* May consider Bachelor's degree or higher with major in business, management, or related field in lieu of experience.



Education:

* High School diploma or GED, required.
* Bachelor's degree, preferred.
